The story
The history of Hotel Rural Alves, also known as Casa Alves de Torneiros, is closely linked to the Alves family, who have lived on the property for generations.
It all began with Manoel Alves and Maria Teresa de Oliveira, who built the first stone house on the site. Their eldest son, João Baptista Alves, inherited the property and it was he who gave the place the name "Torneiros", due to the manufacture of lathes and taps for barrels that took place there.
Over the generations, the property passed from heir to heir, until it reached Manuel Joaquim Dias Alves and his wife Albertina Machado da Silva Gomes, who donated the house to their daughters, Maria Celeste and Maria Emília. The daughters, both engineers, decided to restore the house and turn it into the Hotel Rural Alves, which today is a thriving business and a source of pride for the whole family.
The hotel preserves the history and tradition of the Alves family, offering guests a unique experience in a warm, family atmosphere.
